A look at resale and auction prices for crawler-mounted excavators in June, plus six new models recently introduced from CAT, Volvo, Komatsu, and more.

In this month’s equipment report, Equipment Watch took a closer look at crawler-mounted compact excavators and crawler-mounted hydraulic excavators.

Resale (FMV) prices in June increased over last year but declined vs. May, while auction (FLV) prices increased both month-over-month and vs. last year.

Doosan’s new DX800LC-7 crawler-mounted excavator is its largest excavator model to date, suitable for pit and quarry as well as heavy construction and infrastructure work. The DX800LC-7 has a double-boom foot design to improve stress distribution and reduce single-rise wear while allowing for easier assembly and disassembly for transport. It comes with three excavator arm options: standard arm, long arm, and mass-excavation arm. The excavator’s D-Ecopower system controls oil flow and optimizes available horsepower to improve productivity and save fuel.

The R 914 Compact Lithtronic is Liebherr’s smallest crawler excavator, featuring a hydraulic system with high sensitivity to allow for precision at high speeds. It has a short tail swing radius of 5’11” for increased safety and flexibility on narrow or urban sites. The R 914 includes panoramic visibility, liftable console for easy cab access, and ROPS-certified cab structure.

Volvo has entered the 50-ton excavator class with the EC530E and EC550E models. The EC530E and EC550E provide high tractive force and swing torque. Combined with a large bucket, the machines can fill 30- to 40-ton haulers in fewer passes to boost productivity by up to 20%, the company says. The excavators feature a super-rigid reinforced undercarriage for durability and strength, sturdy lower and upper frames, an electro-hydraulic system that contributes to 25% improvement in fuel efficiency, and engine pump optimization to lower engine speed while maintaining power.

The Komatsu PC88MR-11 excavator features a reduced tail swing radius, making it an ideal option for roadways, bridges, urban areas, and other areas where space is limited. The PC88MR-11 features high-flow auxiliary hydraulics with proportional joysticks for versatility and precise attachment control, a high-efficiency power package and viscous fan clutch to lower fuel consumption by up to 13%, and a smart, simplified catalytic system that removes soot without a diesel particulate filter to lower maintenance and lower cost of ownership. The machine’s cab includes an air suspension seat, Bluetooth radio, and high-resolution monitor with rearview camera.

The new CAT 302.7 CR, 303 CR, and 303.5 CR hydraulic mini excavators feature design enhancements that provide for up to 10% more performance in travel and trenching, the company says, with hydraulic system upgrades that improve lifting performance and cycle times. They feature damage-resistant exterior construction to lower repair costs, and daily maintenance checks can be made from ground level through side doors. They are available with standard- and long-stick configurations. The cab includes a next-generation display with intuitive machine function control and easy monitoring of critical operating parameters.

Kubota’s KX057-5 5-ton compact excavator is rated at 47.6 HP and combines performance and efficiency for optimal bucket digging force and arm reach. It includes an electronically controlled third line hydraulic return that activates automatically when the operator selects one-way flow mode, and the load-sending hydraulic system ensures smooth operation. The cab features a double adjustable seat, independently adjustable left- and right-side joystick consoles, a slimmer frame design for 20% more glass, enhanced legroom, and noise-reduction technology. Options include keyless start, rearview camera, and travel alarm.
