How Organizations Benefit from Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policies

Contractors and producers are facing employment challenges that extend beyond recruitment, retention, and training. According to Kimberly Kayler, president of Advancing Organization Excellence, (AOE), prospective employees, customers and owners are making decisions about for whom who work and hire based on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) policies, theories and practices.

In this exclusive interview Kayler explains to Bill Palmer, WOC360’s editor, that DEI adoption is more than a trend. Kayler offers that DEI adoption can be the source of increased operating margins and increased safety awareness. For example, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology found that gender diverse companies report about 41 percent in increased revenue over a fiscal year than companies with less gender diversity. According an OSHA report, creating an inclusive workplace is a documented way to ensure a safer work environment, driving a positive safety culture

Kayler suggests that for DEI to be successful, policies are best integrated at a strategic level.
